I’ve been looking for something to replace SnackBox since it went out of business and started looking at all the companies out there.
One of the first ones to catch my eye was VeganCuts, mostly because it was affordable $19.99 and shipped to Canada. After looking at reviews I read a lot about how the value isn’t quite there and the quality of the snacks wasn’t very high. I’m a vegetarian so automatically VeganCuts had me interested. I gave it a shot for one month and here’s what I got in my box:
First let’s start with the things I definitely will not eat:
I don’t like Indian Food so immediately these were put in a pile to “go home to Mom, maybe she will use them”
Saffron Road Rogan Josh Simmer Sauce – Retail Value $3.00
Jyoti Indian Snack Mix – Retail Value $1.50
Pearls Olives – Retail Value $1.42
A Tavola Together Pizza Dough Mix – Retail Value $6.00
CocoBacon Coconut Organics – Retail Value $4.00
Bonelli Fine Food Sesame Spread – Retail Value $1.29
The pizza dough I may use. I think I’ll try and make breadsticks or something with it. The CocoBacon has zero appeal to me. I tasted it and didn’t enjoy it, but then again bacon isn’t for me.
Beanfields Bean & Rice Chips – Retail Value $1.17
Supereats Kale & Chia chips – Retail Value $2.30
The Kale chips sounded interesting but they are definitely for dipping because they were so dry I couldn’t get a chip down without washing it down with water. I’m not a Ranch flavour fan so we’ll see what my father or fiance thinks of the Bean chips.
Nature’s Bakery fig bar – Retail Value $.63
StarBars superfood bar – Retail Value $3.17
Jiva Hot Chocolate Cubes – Retail value $1.26
I have purchased a box of Nature’s Bakery from Costco before and had the Fig, Blueberry and Raspberry flavours before and I’m looking forward to trying this one. I took a taste of the Starbar and it was nothing new. I liked the flavor but could get the same thing from a LaraBar. It’s now summer time so I don’t think the hot chocolate will get used any time soon. Weird choice to put in a May box.
Total value of the box: $25.74. At a cost of $19.99 +$8.00 shipping to Canada, this box was not worth it at all. I definitely won’t be giving VeganCuts a chance again next month because there are just too many other boxes out there that provide the same thing but with better items. Total fail on this box for me.
Loki had an awesome mail day yesterday. First we opened his Paws & Play box, which he loved.
Next was the Bowzer Box, another awesome Canadian box for dogs.
My dog has a tendency to destroy toys very quickly and he very much enjoyed the ChuckIt flying squirrel. Be warned when you throw it, the range is far and it tends to change directions! (As my father learned when he threw it right into my head).
The Fruitables have always been a favorite with Loki and he definitely enjoyed the Grilled Bison flavor (but then again he enjoys every flavor of any food.)
Bowzer Box offers 1,3 and 6 months subscriptions for small, medium and large dogs. Loki got the medium box. Shipping is flat at $4.95 and the boxes start at $29 for a single month.
PopSugar has release the first spoiler of the upcoming Summer Must Have box and I have to say, I’m even MORE excited!
As of this post there are only 337 Summer boxes left; they will be shipping out June 7th. Get yours HERE now!
The PopSugar Must Have box is one that everyone raves above and I was eager to get my first box. I’d already seen a few other’s reviews of the box and knew what I was getting but it was still awesome opening it up!
Everything in this box is something I really like. It has a “handpicked just for me” feeling.
Sephora Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Pool Boy. Love it. This colour is going to look awesome on the beach in Hawaii come October. (Retail value – $10)
Smell Bent St. Tropez Dispenser. The smell on this is to die for. It smells like the beach and makes me desperate for Hawaii to come sooner. Retail value $45
The second I opened this I started thinking, do I have any lemons at home? I should go buy lemons. Whenever I’m out for a meal I always have lemon water. This is absolutely perfect for me! Retail value $17
I want to eat the whole bag. These are amazing! I even shared some with my dad, who turns his nose up at anything that says “skinny, healthy or fat free.” He said “they aren’t bad” which in dad terms means, pass the bag for another handful. It’s a full size bag and I just want to keep snacking all day. Retail value $4
You’re going to give me a workout dvd to burn off the Skinny Crisps I just gorged on? Well thanks! I am using Chalean Extreme and TurboFire right now so I’m not sure if this will get used by me, but I might just give it a shot! Retail value $15
I had just said to myself a couple days ago, I really need an eye mask. It’s far too bright when I’m trying to sleep in. I installed a blackout curtain instead but I’m sure this mask will get used on holidays! Retail value $24.
The PopSugar Must Have box costs $39.99 with free US shipping. The retail value on this box is $115. Would I have purchased most of these items in stores? Probably not, which makes the box even better!

I like to thank my parents for gifting me with amazing eyelashes. I am a mascara connoisseur because of it. (Excuse the tired eyes – my dog woke me up at 5am this morning!)
Wearing Cult’s Loveable Lash Mascara:
Definitely not a mascara I would keep in my purse for daily application, or one of the first I would reach for. It clumped immediately and didn’t add as much volume as a lot of other brands.
As for the nail polish, purple is a colour I’m trying to get back into because it looks awesome on me so I was excited to try out the nail polish.
The applicator brush on my sample was bent in a weird angle so I had quite a hard time applying it. The white polish I had flashbacks of grade 5 when all the girls were going through a phase of applying white-out to their nails but looked really awesome once applied.
The Knotty hair ties aren’t something I’ve used before and I liked them, but I’m not sure how well they would hold back my incredibly thick hair!
BlackBox by Cult will cost you $19.99 per month – $9.99 for the Purple, Please! box with shipping to Canada being $8.00, $5.00 for the US.
While this month wasn’t really entirely in my taste range, I might just sign up for another month to check out what neat items are sent in June!
Paws & Play is a new Canadian pet subscription company that was awesome enough to send me along their May Box to review.
Loki is already adept at figuring out which boxes are for him and immediately he raced to the mailman to get to this box.
Taking photos with him is a challenge because he moves so much trying to sniff around and check out what’s inside.
The first thing that caught Loki’s eye was the rawhide bone. He took his time chewing it but it was definitely gone in a couple hours!
Loki loves any and all toys but as a two year old he loves ripping them apart and taking out the stuffing. Included in this box was an Ethical Skineeez that had no stuffing at all, and two squeakers in the feet that he went crazy over.
The Barkery cookie didn’t last long. This photo came in between extreme excitement.
Also in the box were two samples of dog food. Merrick grain free and Petcurean. Loki has some skin issues with his food (and gas) so while he will gladly eat both samples in one sitting and will love them, I will have to give them sparingly to him to make sure I don’t have to deal with the room clearing effects. There was also a bully stick in the box but I gave it away to a customer because Loki just tries to swallow them whole and I’m left cleaning up his vomit.
The last item in the box was a Viva La Spa mild grooming spritz. My fiance will be a fan of this. Loki can get quite the pungent smell over time and when I sprayed this one on him it smelled just like a trip to the spa.
My favorite part of Paws & Play – they take PayPal! And they’re Canadian! I plan on subscribing immediately because it was a hit with Loki – and definitely a great value for what was in the box.
Paws & Play has a flat $5 rate included in their shipments. The box I received was the Premium box, $30 per month. They also offer the “To-Go” box of 4-7 items for $15, as well as a mixed box for a family with cat and dog, 2 dogs or 2 cats for $39.

The second this box was announced I signed up immediately. My father has very few hobbies, but golf is one of them. And on top of that, he really likes Bubba Watson. It’s in partnership with Fancy Box – whom I am waiting on for a couple boxes to review from already.
The Bubba Watson Father’s Day Edition is available in Silver and Gold Editions:
Purchase by June 3rd to guarantee Father’s Day shipping
My friend Lindi also has quite the Subscription Box Addiction and since she and I both subscribe to different boxes, she will be reviewing the ones she gets, as well as ones we both receive. Her first review is on the May Wantable Accessories Box!
Harlow Necklace – absolutely love this piece. It’s casual enough to be worn to work but can also be worn on a night out. I really like the diamond shape and the adjustable silver chain.
Cohen Bracelet – a very funky piece that is great for a night out. Unfortunately this piece is a little small for my wrist so will make a nice gift for one of my friends.
Mia Scarf – this scarf is a beautiful coral colour. It is very lightweight so can be worn in summer without feeling too hot. The pattern is gorgeous and I look forward to wearing it soon to brighten up a dark coloured shirt.
Sally Watch – the piece is really unique but unfortunately I was not able to wind the watch so won’t be able to use it. I contacted Wantable and they sent me a replacement item right away. The watch I received is now out of stock so I look forward to seeing my new item.
Have you subscribed to Wantable yet?
Treatsbox is an awesome Canadian company that was gracious enough to offer me this box to review.
First off, shipping out of Winnipeg was insanely fast and I received this box two days after being contacted! Secondly, I’m a very faithful PayPal user, and I tend to choose subscriptions based on that option. Guess what? Treatsbox takes PayPal!
The one stand out the second I opened the box was the name brands. There are premiere brands in the box that everyone will recognize.
I can be a bit of a health and fitness nut and it’s all be amplified by my upcoming nuptials in Hawaii in October. Of course I want to look beach ready but I think I can allow a day off to sample these goodies, don’t you?
First off, the potato chips didn’t even make the Unboxing Reveal photo because I was so hungry I ate them right away. I don’t usually allow potato chips at our house so this was a treat for me!
Once I started unpacking the box, nostalgia really came over me. I had memories of my brother and I riding our bikes up to 7-11 with our $2 allowance and drooling over all these treats wondering what we should buy this week.
Treatsbox offers free shipping within Canada, and $10 for the US. A monthly box is $30 but if you sign up for a year’s subscription it comes down to $28 a month. Definitely an awesome box to invest in if you have a few family members that have a sweet tooth!
Have you ordered your MUST HAVE Summer box yet? There are only a limited quantity available and they sell out really quickly. While $100 may seem steep for one box, last year’s summer box had House of Harlow sunglasses ($125 value) a Sachin & Babi Sarong ($50 value) and a S’Well bottle ($35 value) among many other awesome items.
Be sure to order HERE while they’re still available !
I received my first VoxBox from http://www.influenster.com/ today.
The the box were two imPRESS Press on Manicures.
I absolutely loved the packaging they came in.
I am no stranger to nails and have glued my fingers together on many occasions so needles to say I was excited for these!
First step was to select the right nail sizes. My nails run on the smaller sizes and I was happy to find the right size for every nail.
To apply, you just peel the backing off and stick them on. Simple. They looked great once applied although they don’t stick right at the cuticle so they looked a little off at the top of the nail. I will have to see how long they last, but the design looks fantastic.
This is the first box I have received since starting this blog and couldn’t wait to crack it open!!
First item out of the box was this Cotton Slub Racerback Tank Sea Foam – retails at $8.49.
This looks super comfy and I will probably end up wearing it to bed, or even to the gym. I absolutely love the colour. LIKE
Second item was solid Heather Crew socks sized 9-11. Retails at $9.00. My feet are size 7 so these will probably fit a bit large for me, but I am always in need of socks so these will definitely get used. IN-BETWEEN
Third was an Ahh Cameleon Seamless Reversible Bra Navy/Turquoise. Retails at $24.00. When I pulled this out, immediately I said to myself, this is hideous. But I bet it’s super comfy and it’s very soft. WAIT AND SEE
Update: Tried it on this morning and it’s AMAZING. Very comfy, not the most attractive but it’s for comfort, not style.
My first box cost $47.01 after shipping and taxes and had a retail value of $61.49 so definitely a deal with this box. There’s nothing I don’t like in it so I’m very happy with my purchase!!
Welcome to my Box Subscription review site;
As of this blog’s inception – April 29th, 2014, I have subscribed to two boxes – BarkBox and SnackBox (now defunct). Missing Snackbox in my life I have reached out to other sites to decide on what I should subscribe to next.
I have now subscribed to 4 more boxes and will use this blog to review and post my remarks on the boxes I’m using, as well as taking comments on what I should subscribe to!
