Bookcase Club June: Volume II – Strange Worlds

Once again, the reader’s thrill that I get from opening a new volume is back – the smell of fresh pages (take that, e-readers) and the promise of a story not yet told. Bookcase Club delivers two carefully selected and curated books to your door each and every month. Heaven.

Sorcerer To The Crown – Zen Cho – $26.95

‘English magic faces its darkest hour’ – I’m in.

This book sounds really good – hints of Harry Potter but also power and politics set in a fantasy land, like House of Cards meets the Dark Crystal. Also, without reading a page, I’m reminded¬† a little bit of Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them – let’s see if it matches up to any of these or, as I hope, makes a name for itself.

Departure – A.G. Riddle – $21.99

The sharp-eyed regular reader will notice that this title was in the February Strange Worlds box (it’s actually a really good book). This is the first time this has happened, and I let Bookcase Club know. I’m waiting for their response and will update here when that comes in.

Minor doubling up like the above aside, Bookcase Club is a great concept – choose your genre and get two curated books delivered each month for $9.99 (+ shipping). Highly recommended.
